Idli - Batter Fritters

Idli-Batter Fritters are a crunchy and delightful appetizer you can literally make in minutes if you have the Idli batter ready. If you're wondering what to do with leftover batter, try this easy vegan snack recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups idli batter
  • 1 tbsp flour (maida)
  • 1-2 tbsp cilantro (coriander leaves), finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder or 1 green chilli, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Astofodia
  • Vegetable oil for deep-frying

  • Preparation

  • Heat the the oil for deep-frying, preferably in a medium or large pan, so you can fry larger batches of the fritters to save time.
  • In a bowl, mix the idli batter with the flour, chillies or chilli powder, salt, and cilantro.
  • Take a tablespoon, and drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil and fry until golden. Drain excess oil on a paper towel and serve the idli-batter fritters plain or with a chutney of your choice and a cup of hot tea or coffee.
